Week 11 & 12

Week 11:

This is the first time I've been late getting flowers to a person and a blog posted. This week I'm combining Weeks 11 and 12. Judge if you want but I have bronchitis so all should be forgiven. HA!

Yesterday I had the privilege to honor two very special women in my life. Both new additions to my life, but I'm hoping to have them stick around for a long time.

Recently our family built a home and moved into a new neighborhood and I'm so thankful we did! God has always blessed our family with wonderful neighbors but this group has gone above and beyond. They have welcomed us into their homes and have done a wonderful job of blessing our boys.

Last week's flowers are for Brittany, and girl I am so sorry I didn't get them to you on time, but I think the timing is better anyway. God tends to do that! This girl is so much more than she knows. She is going back to school, working full time, AND doing clinical hours.  She has such a sweet spirit and my boys love her as their big sister. Eli might even call her his big sister. I am so thankful to have her and Justin (her husband) as neighbors but even more thankful for the new friendship.

Brittany, I know this season is a busy one and I know you are exhausted. I just want you to know I see you. I see your hard work and I see the exhaustion, but I want you to know you are doing great things. Even though this season is long and exhausting you will soon reap the rewards of the hard work. My mom told my brother once that life is going to be hard no matter what. It will either be hard because we quit or it will be hard because we are working to make it better. You my friend are in a hard season because you are choosing to make it better and I am so proud of you! Keep it up you are so close to the finish line and come May we get to celebrate all those sleepless nights, term papers turned in right at deadline, and everything in between.

Week 12:

This week's flowers I was honored to give to our neighbor Melanie.

Melanie has been such a blessing to my family. I don't know if I'll ever be able to truly show her how thankful I am for her and her kindness. While Oscar was gone she invited my family over for dinner. She left a secret goodie basket for the boys on our doorstep. (At first we actually gave credit to Brittany for that basket; it took a little detective work to find out who left the sweet surprise.) I took our boys trick or treating to their house, which both ran inside (soaking wet) and ate their candy on her floor instead of waiting for candy on the doorstep. She never complains about the boys taking over her home she welcomes them with open arms. Eli enjoys talking with her and Mr. Brian (her husband) they teach him new things, Brian bakes them cookies, and gives necklace lights to wear while trick or treating. I know these might seem like little things but you have no idea how much these simple thoughtful gestures have meant to us. We see you Melanie, and we are so thankful to have you as a neighbor and friend. The boys talk about you and your family, like you are part of our family. Obviously, you have made them feel welcome in your home, because when they go over they take over! HA!

I hope these flowers remind you both that you are valued, loved, and your good deeds have not gone unnoticed. We see you and we appreciate you. I pray these flowers remind you to, "rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances."

    1. Jennifer, I love your Mom's comment of life is going to be hard no matter what. It will either be hard because we quit or it will be hard because we are working to make it better. Those are words of wisdom and really made me stop and think. You have such a sweet spirit and I'm sure your new neighbors feel just as blessed as you do to have you as a neighbor!

Week 8:

This week my blog is all about something that is very near and dear to my heart. For those of you who don't know I have a younger cousin and younger brother who both have autism. My cousin Aaron lives in Odessa, Texas, and has recently graduated High School. For most graduates this is a very exciting time, they start college, move away from home, and get an apartment. However, for Aaron things are much different. Aaron can't go to college, or live on his own, because of the autism Aaron needs to stay home with his family. He needs to have someone watch over him and help him with day to day living. Without school there isn’t anywhere Aaron can go during the day, because of this my aunt retired and stays home with Aaron.   For many years my aunt and uncle have prayed God would provide some type of resource, a place where young adults like Aaron could go to continue learning new things. God always finds a way to meet our needs.   This week my blessing is simple I ...

Week 33:

This blessing took place the week of May 11 th – 17 th . I was beyond blessed this week. I was given an opportunity to go home for few days. I flew out on Thursday, May 15 th . Anytime I fly home I have a layover in Dallas. This usually allows for me to get breakfast or lunch. This being a typical layover I stopped to get some breakfast at McDonalds. Instead of getting my usual, just a breakfast burrito and a drink I felt the need to get the meal. It includes 2 burritos, a hash brown, and a drink. After getting my meal and arriving at my gate. The girl sitting next to me asked where she could find McDonalds. I told her she would need to take the skylink to get there, but she probably wouldn't have time to go and come back before boarding.   I told her I had an extra burrito that she could have if she wanted it. She asked if I was serious, I smiled and said, "Yes, I seriously have an extra burrito and you can have it". I went on to tell her I never get the meal b...

Week 14:

I have a bad habit of being hard on myself. I constantly make jokes about not being good enough. It wasn't until recently when a good friend of mine told me I don't give myself enough credit. She's absolutely right, and I guarantee I'm not alone in this. I know some of you reading this do the same thing. You belittle yourself, or you try and justify you quarks. For example you might make a similar comment, "I'm socially awkward, but the people who love me look past this…" Or "I'm not really sure why people read my blog, I'm not a writer." I could list example after example of not measuring up to the "world's standards", but you know what I've learned? Those standards don't matter; they really don't, because my worth comes from a higher authority. It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualifications come from God. – 2 Corinthians 3:5 Here's the deal when God looks ...
