Week 28:

This blessing took place the week of April 6th – 12th.

I want to first thank my family and friends for going above and beyond in making my birthday amazing this year. It was very humbling to be the recipient of such love. Thank you! I'd like to share with you one of my favorite gifts I received this year. However, first I need to give you the back story.

For those of you who don't know, I've had the same best friend since 1st grade. Alex and I have been through everything together. First loves, heartbreaks, Hey Arnold, and the entire 10 seasons of Friends. We stood beside each other at our weddings. She held my hand at my mother's funeral and I wrote the eulogy at her daughter's. Most of you reading this blog know Alex found out early on her daughter, Noel, wouldn't live outside her womb. Alex carried Noel full term and was blessed with 15 precious days, before Noel went home to Jesus. Through all of this Alex and Caleb, her husband, have shown the world what it means to be a true Christian. They have continued to trust in the Lord and to lean on His understanding. Like any human they've had their good days and their bad days but at the end of each day they remind themselves of the promise of God's word.

Through all of this Alex has felt the desire to share their story, Noel's story. Alex isn't like me she isn't an open book. She prefers to be backstage instead of in the spotlight. However, God wants people to hear Noel's story and Alex has been obedient and continues to share her story. Recently, Alex was interview by the Billy Graham Network. They wanted to talk about Noel and the faith this family has demonstrated. Alex was nervous about the interview, not only because of the subject matter but because this isn't characteristic of her. She asked for prayer to help ease her anxiety. Thankfully, Alex and her family have been surrounded by many prayer warriors, and just as they always have they prayed for Alex and for the interview.

After receiving the details, Alex informed me of when and where the interview would be aired. However, because of circumstances I wasn't able to listen to the interview. I was very disappointed. I really wanted to hear and support my friend. However, I don't tend to allow circumstances to keep me from getting something I want, and I wanted to hear this interview. After some research and an email not only did I receive a link to an online copy, but they also sent me a CD copy of the interview via mail and I got it on my birthday! By far one of my favorite gifts this year!

If you would like to listen to Alex's interview you can access it by clicking on the link below.

The Ministry Focus begins at 10 min 30 sec and Alex begins at 11 min 05 sec

Alex, you are nothing short of extraordinary. Even though your testimony in this interview was short I know the work you did to help the success of the Festival of Hope will be rewarded. I'm sure you've continued to share your testimony, and I'm certain Noel's story continues to change lives. She isn't with us physically but her legacy continues to shine through the faith you and Caleb continue to exhibit. I believe God is going to bless you and Caleb more than you can dream. I believe in His word and in His promises, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose". –Romans 8:28

Week 8:

This week my blog is all about something that is very near and dear to my heart. For those of you who don't know I have a younger cousin and younger brother who both have autism. My cousin Aaron lives in Odessa, Texas, and has recently graduated High School. For most graduates this is a very exciting time, they start college, move away from home, and get an apartment. However, for Aaron things are much different. Aaron can't go to college, or live on his own, because of the autism Aaron needs to stay home with his family. He needs to have someone watch over him and help him with day to day living. Without school there isn’t anywhere Aaron can go during the day, because of this my aunt retired and stays home with Aaron.   For many years my aunt and uncle have prayed God would provide some type of resource, a place where young adults like Aaron could go to continue learning new things. God always finds a way to meet our needs.   This week my blessing is simple I ...

Week 33:

This blessing took place the week of May 11 th – 17 th . I was beyond blessed this week. I was given an opportunity to go home for few days. I flew out on Thursday, May 15 th . Anytime I fly home I have a layover in Dallas. This usually allows for me to get breakfast or lunch. This being a typical layover I stopped to get some breakfast at McDonalds. Instead of getting my usual, just a breakfast burrito and a drink I felt the need to get the meal. It includes 2 burritos, a hash brown, and a drink. After getting my meal and arriving at my gate. The girl sitting next to me asked where she could find McDonalds. I told her she would need to take the skylink to get there, but she probably wouldn't have time to go and come back before boarding.   I told her I had an extra burrito that she could have if she wanted it. She asked if I was serious, I smiled and said, "Yes, I seriously have an extra burrito and you can have it". I went on to tell her I never get the meal b...

Week 14:

I have a bad habit of being hard on myself. I constantly make jokes about not being good enough. It wasn't until recently when a good friend of mine told me I don't give myself enough credit. She's absolutely right, and I guarantee I'm not alone in this. I know some of you reading this do the same thing. You belittle yourself, or you try and justify you quarks. For example you might make a similar comment, "I'm socially awkward, but the people who love me look past this…" Or "I'm not really sure why people read my blog, I'm not a writer." I could list example after example of not measuring up to the "world's standards", but you know what I've learned? Those standards don't matter; they really don't, because my worth comes from a higher authority. It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualifications come from God. – 2 Corinthians 3:5 Here's the deal when God looks ...
